Most exotic owners have heard it. The real risk is how the car gets jumped: cables from another running car, clamps on backwards, or leads ripped off while the engine is running and sending a voltage spike through the electronics. That is what damages control modules, not the jump itself.
A dead battery is normal, and these cars are built for it. Many exotics, including models from Ferrari and Lamborghini, have designated jump terminals, and their owner's manuals describe an emergency start when the battery is flat. Those points are there to be used, the right way.
How we jump an exotic
- A regulated lithium jump pack with reverse polarity and spark protection. No donor car and no unregulated alternator voltage
- We connect only at the manufacturer's designated jump terminals
- We confirm the pack is putting out 12 volts before anything cranks
- Lights, climate and audio off, key in the car, short cranks with rest in between
- Leads come off in the right order, gently, once the car is running
- We check the charging voltage afterward and tell you honestly if the battery needs replacing
Why exotics go dead so often
These cars sit. A Ferrari or Lamborghini that only comes out on weekends, or waits in the garage while the owner is out of town, is still powering the alarm, telematics and control modules the whole time. Florida heat shortens battery life on top of that. Two or three weeks parked is often enough to leave one dead.
After the jump
Drive it for a while or put it on a battery maintainer so the battery fully recovers. A deeply drained battery may not hold a charge, and we will tell you if that is the case. If a warning light stays on afterward, your dealer or exotic specialist can clear the stored codes.
Quiet and discreet
We show up in a clean sedan, not a loud tow truck. That works in gated communities, private garages, condo decks and valet lots, and we coordinate with security or staff when access is controlled.
